MAC 5/28/2010My contact info is cell- 818 425-9534
Mac is 3 years old, and his mix a big mystery. I believe he is a Cattle Dog/Grey Hound/Basenji mix, but he has webbed feet, so there may be some Lab in there too. As you can see from his pictures, he has a very unique, regal look, and turns heads where ever he goes. He is about 60 Pounds, neutered, UTD with shots, and house trained.
I took on Mac as a foster dog because a friend could no longer keep him due to financial reasons. I am Mac's 4th home, and really want to see him go to someone that will keep him for the rest of his life.
Mac is a very special dog... He has a very gentle, calm, and submissive demeanor with people. I've had him around my 10 year old cousin, and 8 month old niece with no problems, though, he could knock down a young child , so 10 and up would be my recommendation. Mac knows a few commands (sit, down, roll over, stay, shake/high five) but he still needs some obedience. He loves to fetch (still working on the release command) and has ZERO food or toy aggression. I don't let my dogs sleep with me in bed, though If it was up to Mac, he'd be curled up next to me every night, but he will obediently stay on his bed all night. (kennel free)
Mac does have a couple of restrictions with the kind of home he needs, one being no cats (unless your cat is fearless of dogs) as Mac will chase a cat (or squirrel) that runs from him. He lived with a cat in his last home, and they were best pals, but this cat was VERY bold.
The second restriction Mac has is male dogs. I've never seen Mac get aggressive with another dog, but he does have a habit of mounting, which has gotten him beat up a couple times at dog parks. He does very well with my female Cattle Dog, and lets her boss him around (she's extremely bossy!!)
I'd prefer to see Mac go to a home with a big backyard, or a very active home, and an owner that has prior dog experience as he needs further obedience training in order to ensure his success in his new home. If for some reason you decide to take Mac, and it doesn't work out, I insist that he is returned to me. $150 donation fee to pet adoption agency of your choice, and vet reference required. |
